Update: Richard Norris pleaded guilty to charges of battery and voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 16, 2015)— Indianapolis Police arrested a man in connection with the death of his 78-year-old grandmother.

According to police, officers were called to a residence in the 4500 block of Calhoun Street on a report of a deceased individual.

When officers arrived they spoke with family members, who said Lucille Gladney, 78, was deceased. They also told police her car was missing.

IMPD officers requested homicide detectives to the scene based upon the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

While the detectives were conducting their investigation, they learned her grandson Richard Norris, 21, was driving her vehicle.

IMPD officers located Norris, along with the missing vehicle, in the 1900 block of South Drexel Avenue.

IMPD detectives questioned Norris, and then arrested him for murder.

This is an ongoing investigation.
