INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 10, 2015)– Police say the wife of an Indianapolis pastor was attacked in her home on the northwest side.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Sunnyfield Court around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.  The victim’s husband came home and found her unconscious on the floor.

The victim, 28, suffered head trauma and is in critical condition. IMPD says the  trauma is consistent with a gunshot wound.  Their toddler son was home at the time of the home invasion but was not injured.

“She’s just such a loving mom and he’s just a swell guy, so for this to happen to them is just devastating to all of us in the neighborhood,” explains Ryan McConnell, the neighborhood watch captain.

According to neighbors, the victim had recently announced she was pregnant.

“He’s a pastor at a local church and they had just shared with their congregation that they were expecting last Sunday from what I understand,” explains McConnell.

For nearly 10 hours, the street was blocked off as detectives processed the scene and went door to door talking to neighbors.

“Obviously a lot of questions that still need to be answered,” says Rafael Diaz,  IMPD officer.

Police are currently investigating another break-in in the same area. At this time the two cases haven’t been connected.

Suspect information has not yet been released.  Police believe this was a random act.
